Frequently Asked Questions
How to take Homeopathic Remedies?
It is best to handle the remedy as little as possible and to refrain from eating, drinking (except water) or brushing your teeth with mint toothpaste for 10 minutes before and after the remedy.
Take the Remedy in a clean mouth and allow to dissolve for a few seconds before chewing or swallowing. Remedies should be stored away from direct sunlight, strong smells, moisture and EMF emitting devices.
How do you give a young baby or child a remedy?
You can crush the pills between two spoons, add a drop of cooled boiled water and give to the baby. Alternatively place the pill on the top gum just inside the lip where it will dissolve.
Older children will happily take the pills.
Things to be aware of while taking Homeopathic remedies
Peppermint, coffee and some other strong odours occasionally interact with the remedy in some individuals. Please take the remedies at least 10-15 minutes after drinking or using these. The use of non-mint toothpaste is advisable.
Please store remedies away from strong smelling substances, EMF emitters in a cool, dark place. Remedies when stored correctly will remain usable for many years without losing their effectiveness.
What are remedies made of?
They are normally made of lactose, sucrose or a water and alcohol base. Remedies can be made free of lactose and alcohol.
Are there any side effects from remedies?
No. They are safe for all ages. Your body will use the remedy in the way it needs.
Occasionally, there may be a return of some old symptoms from long ago as your body clears toxins and unexpressed emotions. If this should occur, symptoms will normally resolve within a few hours or days and are a positive sign.
How long is the consultation?
The initial consultation is usually up to one hour. This allows time for you to fully discuss all your symptoms and for me to ask further information about how they are affecting you.
Follow-ups generally take between 30 mins -1 hour depending on the complexity of the case. This allows time to discuss any changes you have experienced, any new symptoms and to ask for further information as deemed appropriate.
How many consultations will I require?
This varies for everyone and is dependent on how long you have had the symptoms, previous medications used to treat, the complexity of your case and your response to the selected remedies.
Why do you ask questions about sleep, diet, food cravings, temperature and other functions of the body?
These questions are asked to help gain a more complete picture of you as a whole. Physical symptoms affect more than one system within the body and mental or emotional complaints can impact the physical health too due to the body’s complex communication systems.
Can I use Homeopathy when on medication from the Doctor?
Yes you can. There is no evidence of any negative interaction between Homeopathic remedies and medication or treatments prescribed by your GP or Hospital Consultant. Many people use both alongside each other, with positive outcomes. In some instances however, the action of the Homeopathic remedy may be hindered by prescribed drugs and it can be more difficult to assess the reaction of a given remedy.
It is advisable to let your GP know you are taking Homeopathic remedies.
You must never stop taking any prescribed medicines during your treatment. Any changes in your prescription must be with the prior guidance and support of your GP and Homeopath.
Can I continue to take prescribed medication?
You must never stop taking any prescribed medicines during your treatment. Any changes in your prescription must be with the prior guidance and support of your GP and your Homeopath.
